I read Firelight by Sophie Jordan in a few hours. Yup, I devoured this one.
Which is kinda embarrassing to admit. It's yet another paranormal young adult romance. And about dragon shape shifters too. I swore to leave these alone after reading countless Gena Showalter, Shanna Abe, Majorie Liu, and other similar authors' books.
But then it was available on Kindle from my library. I've blogged about the long holds for Kindle books and how difficult it was to get them, so I checked this book out because I could.
So good. At some point in the middle of the story, I thought to myself, "This is how Twilight should have been written!" There was inexplicable attraction between Will and Jacinda, to the point they were obsessed with each other. Both recognized that as strangely unhealthy and eventually had an explanation for it.
There was also a love triangle, but unlike Twilight, Jacinda and Will's bond was clearly developed. They also did more than just stare at each other in meadows. So even though there was this other guy, you knew she'd never choose him. It's not dragged out over 3 books.
(Sorry, Twilight has been on my brain lately. I just watched New Moon and Eclipse this weekend.)
Firelight is a trilogy. The second book, Vanish is available. I was going to buy it immediately and devour this one, but the third book isn't out yet. So if I have to wait, I might as well wait for the library to offer Vanish.
